Size guide and who it is for

At 45cm (18″) across, about twice the width of a football, it's too big for jaws to close round and just right for nosing, pushing and chasing.

Whether your dog is big or small, a bundle of energy or a gentle player, it gives them something to chase and play with, and something that lasts.

What's in the box

Everything you need to get playing, straight out of the box:

  • The inner ball: inflates to 45cm (18″) across
  • The oxford-cloth outer layer: a tough outer cover that takes the teeth, paws and knocks, so the ball inside doesn't have to
  • The pump: inflate it at home in minutes, and top it up whenever it needs it ⚠

Finally, a toy your dog gets to keep

Your dog can wreck a "tough" toy in ten minutes flat.

First the squeaker, then the stuffing, then you're pulling bits out of their mouth before they swallow one.

So you stop buying toys. The good ones get hidden away, your dog is left bored with nothing to do, and you start to think nothing will ever last.

But your dog isn't the problem. The toys are just built for the wrong job.

Built to be pushed, not chewed

Chew toys are made to be chewed. Sooner or later, your dog wins.

This ball has a different job. At 45cm, it's far too big to fit in their mouth, so they do what dogs love most instead: chase it, nose it and drive it round the garden like a sheep.

Its tough oxford-cloth outer layer takes the knocks, while the inner ball holds the air.

The energy that used to wreck their toys goes into the game. They come in tired and happy, and the ball is still there tomorrow.

I've watched him chase, pounce on and shove this ball round the garden for weeks, and it's still in one piece. Honestly, I enjoy playtime as much as he does.

My dog wrecks everything, so I wasn't expecting much. Months later and this ball still looks brand new. Can't believe it hasn't popped.

Emailed support not expecting much, if I'm honest. They got back to me fast, were lovely about it, and actually knew their stuff. Made a nice change.

FAQs!

Will my dog destroy this like every other toy?

It's built to stop that happening. Most toys don't last because your dog can get their jaws around them. At 45cm, this ball is too big for that, so instead of chewing it, they chase it, nudge it and push it.

Its oxford-cloth outer layer sits between their teeth and the inner ball, shielding it from bites, claws and rough ground.

And if your dog still manages to destroy it within 12 months of delivery, email a photo to support@dogdesires.com and we'll send you a new ball, free.

What if my dog isn't interested in it?

You don't need a herding breed. If your dog loves to chase, they'll love this. Big dogs tend to shoulder it around, while smaller dogs nudge it with their nose.

Some dogs are unsure of something this big at first, and that's normal. Roll it slowly away from them, praise every sniff or push, and keep the first few games short so they finish wanting more.

If it's still not for them, you have 60 days from delivery to send it back for a full refund.

Is it safe if my dog plays rough?

The outer layer is fabric, not hard plastic, so there are no hard edges to chip teeth or scrape noses when play gets rough. And at 45cm, the ball is far too big for your dog to swallow.

As with any toy, stay close while they play, check the cover every so often, and take the ball away if it gets damaged. If it does, it's covered by our replacement promise.

Do I need a big garden for it?

You don't need one, but more space means a better game. The ball is made for running, chasing and herding, so the more room your dog has, the more they get out of it.

A large garden, a field or your local park is ideal. It gives them space to build up speed and really drive the ball.

A small garden or a clear room still works for shorter games. Just move anything breakable out of the way first.

The bigger the space, the bigger the game, and the more tired your dog will be at the end of it.

Will my order actually arrive?

Yes. Delivery is free to the UK and US, and your ball arrives within 9 days. You'll get a tracking link so you can follow it all the way. (We currently deliver to the UK and US only.)

Got a question about your order? Email support@dogdesires.com and we'll reply within 24 hours.

Every order is backed by our 60-day returns and our 12-month replacement promise.

Can it be cleaned?

Yes. Let the air out, take the outer layer off and wash it on a [30°C] cycle. Let it air dry before putting it back on.

The inner ball just needs a wipe with a damp cloth.

Muddy days are part of the fun. One wash and it's ready for the next game.

The size is what makes it. He can chase and herd it all he wants, but he can't run off with it like a normal ball.

My dog pushes this round the yard pretty much nonstop. Morning, after work, before bed, he'd be out there all day if I let him. I fully expected a rip in the cover by now with how rough he is with it, but nope, still going strong. Best money I've spent on him.

D
Donna Thompson

Really great toy. My German Shepherd can destroy almost anything, so I went in expecting the worst, but this ball is properly solid. The cover's so tough and the ball's so big that he can't get a decent bite on it, so he's given up trying to chew it and just pushes and rolls it all over the garden instead. Finally found something that can handle his weight and power.

O
Oliver Jones

Honestly surprised how tough it is. He pushes it everywhere in the yard.

A
Alfie Hall

He goes absolutely mad for this ball, chasing it round like his life depends on it. Then he comes in and settles down happy as anything.

F
Freya Hughes

The 45cm size is spot on. Big enough that she can't get her mouth round it, but not so big she can't move it about. My collie is completely obsessed, she'd play with it all day if I let her. It's taken a lot of rough play and it's still going strong.

B
Barbara Martin

It's big enough that he can't pick it up, which I didn't realise was such a good thing until I saw him with it. Every other ball he's had, he grabs, runs off with and chews to bits. With this one he just has to push it around instead, and he's loving it.

K
Karen Reed

If your dog is big and full of beans like mine, get this. That blue cover takes a proper beating and comes out fine. No pops, no holes, nothing.

F
Finley Jackson

Because it's so big, my collie has to push it rather than carry it, and he stays focused on it for so much longer than with a normal ball. Only small thing is it doesn't roll quite as well on bumpy ground, but he doesn't seem to care.

A
Alice Hill

Really well made and it stands up to some seriously rough play. My dog can't pick it up, which is exactly what we needed. Anything he can carry off ends up chewed to bits in the corner. With this, he has to push it around instead, and it's still looking good weeks later.

A
Anthony Williams

Bought it when my border collie was a tiny 4 month old pup and honestly he's never gone off it. Doesn't matter if it's freezing, he's out there pushing it about. I've given up waiting for it to pop tbh, I don't think it's going to.

K
Kimberly Harris

She has the best time playing with it on her own, which honestly makes my life so much easier. Before this, she'd be following me round the house wanting attention every five minutes. Now I can get the dinner on or sit down with a cuppa while she pushes it round the garden.

John Miller

My dog wrecks everything, so I wasn't expecting much. Months later and this ball still looks brand new. Can't believe it hasn't popped.

L
Leo Wilson

It's given my dog a proper outlet for all his chasing instincts. After each session he's tired in a good way, not wound up. The cover can move about a little when he's really going for it, but nothing major.

E
Emily Roberts

my pup gets so excited when the ball comes out, chases and pushes it till he's worn out. needed a bit more air than i thought to keep it firm but no big deal
